Flourishing Garden Farm is committed to providing an organic, self sustaining and holistic environment that is positive, nurtures personal development, and the freedom to attain life-goal fulfillment.
Much like a flourishing garden, this property offers multiple functions and services enabling a diversified business to offer a remarkable opportunity for many high-risk individuals—concentrating on victims of substance abuse, extended incarceration and severe depression. Applicants are screened and accepted on a case by case basis, and upon acceptance, they are provided with simple, private and cozy housing at cost as well as a guaranteed job with free training on the property. The average stay would be about 1 year or more.
Daniela has been life-long activist and served as Vice President-Program Director for The John Howard Society of Peel for 2 years developing programs that reduced recidivism in high risk individuals.  According to statistics, one of the biggest triggers for anti-social or self endangering behavior is extreme financial pressure and instability in living situations. A lack of formal education was also astoundingly statistically linked to recidivism as a precursor to underemployment—the biggest catalyst to crime. In essence, its going back to basic psychology – Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
Daniela, through Flourishing Garden Farm addresses those issues by offering residents a safe, quiet place in the country, away from the temptations and triggers that can quickly lead some astray. Living on the farm at minimal cost, residents will be able to save a substantial amount of money in a short period of time, giving residents a solid financial foundation for the next leg of their journey.
In addition, while employed and residing on the farm, they will report to Daniela’s husband & partner, Glenn , certified Employment Counsellor. With Glenn’s observation & guidance, residents can learn about themselves, their gifts and interests helping them find a fulfilling life-career direction. The money saved will enable them to go back to school or write that book, or do that ‘personal work’ or make that move…..whatever they need for lasting positive change.
The property will harvest & market medicinal and culinary herbs, specialty botanicals & edible flowers and by-products. It will also house an animal sanctuary, in partnership with local schools as a teaching facility. Studies show that plants and animals offer the most profound and effective catalyst for healing, and therefore this is the perfect industry for our employee demographic. The profitability of the horticulture side of the business is a big priority, as that will sustain the farm on the long term and provide its residents (including the animal sanctuary) a solid, stable financial foundation.
To supplement income, the property will be outfitted with a music-art studio to host creative retreats & recording packages through Glenn & Daniela’s side projects –www.tripleeyemusic.com & www.duendeartproductions.com.
By combining these, residents have a wide variety of interests they can pursue in a wholesome & positive environment. This will provide them with valuable work experience, a fabulous reference, and growth oriented healing, gently acclimating them to a positive and productive life in society.
